Help Wanted
Do you want to further God’s purpose here in Aberystwyth? Do you want to help retired members of our community (50+) to come to know The Lord? Can you offer some time (between 10am and 4pm) one Thursday a fortnight, or a month? The Meals with a Message Team is looking for more volunteers to join the team for the autumn season which starts on October the 2nd with a Tea and Talk.
The Meals with a Message Team organise lunches and teas where we try to provide a friendly atmosphere where people can meet friends regularly, both old and new. There is an opportunity to chat, and pray with people so that those who attend might come to know the Lord or know him more intimately.
There are many different ways in which you can help the team: Collect, escort and return folk to and from the Castle Rooms; Prepare the room; Serve food; wash up; tidy up at the end. We also need people to identify, encourage and invite people to come to the events. So would you be willing to keep two or three invitations in your pocket every time you go out? If you are interested in helping in the ministry of this small team, or would like to find out more, please contact Sue or Terry Reeves 01970 880 760.
Thank you for your help.
Transport
One of the great pleasures in recent years has been contact with people who are on the recovery programme at Rhoserchan. Because of their recent move to the other side of Penrhycoch and because of their timetable it has been more difficult to get them to church. However, we are appealing for more drivers who would be willing to help with transporting them in our minibus so that this link with them can continue. We are replanning our morning services so that the sermon is finished by 12 p.m. which will give them the chance to leave and be taken home in the minibus. So, if you can help with bringing them in, or taking them home, please give your name in to the office today. This is practical Christianity and gives us an evangelistic opportunity amongst people who need our support.
Delta Christian Discipleship Course
We are pleased to offer the 8 week Delta Course again this Autumn. Our intention is to start on Thursday the 11th of September. The aim of the course is to learn what it means to follow Jesus and learning to be like him; learning how to lay aside anger and contempt, and learning hw to be free of anxiety or impatience. For instance, being able to keep Christ’s command to bless those who curse you. Or how to always do what you intend to do and not do what you don’t intend to do?It’s for those with a yearning for a closer walk with Jesus and the intention to do something about it.Side Chapel in church on Thursday evenings, starting at 7.30pm until about 9.00. If you are interested in following this course, either give your names, phone numbers and emails to Anthea or Rachel in the Office (617184); or please speak to Alwyn Owen
Mini-bus Rota
A new rota is being drawn up for people who are willing to commit to driving the mini-bus on Sundays. If you are interested in serving the Lord in this way, have a valid driving licence and are aged between 21 and 70, and have 2 years driving experience please leave your details at the office, or contact Sian Owen on 01970 828196.
Alpha
There's a change to the announcement last week about the Alpha prayer meeting. Please note that the new arrangement is that we will devote the whole of Wednesday 1st October as a prayer day for Alpha. We will give the entire morning 7.45 prayer meeting to Alpha, then include it in prayers at the 10.30 Communion. Between 12.30 and 2 p.m. Andy will lead lunch time prayers for people who would like to slip in and out. There will be prayer information in the side chapel throughout the day so that intercessors can come and go as they are able. Please take some time that day to pray for evangelism in and through the church.
'Soaking'
Our Autumn 'soaking' sessions begin on Wednesday, September 10th from 1.30pm until 3.00pm in the Castle Rooms. This is an opportunity to be spiritually refreshed by spending time in the wonderful presence of our Heavenly Father. We meet every fortnight and everyone is welcome.
