Recovering His Reputation
Where it came from
I was sitting at a table in one of the cafés in town when a man at the next table had the baguette he had ordered delivered to him. It was massive. Without thinking he said to his wife, ‘Jesus Christ! Look at that!’ It was on that day that our vision statement took a little more shape.
There was a time in Wales when such a thing would never have been said, because of the reverence and respect in which Jesus was held by all. We want to recover the honour of his name in our town of Aberystwyth and wherever we have influence across the nation.
George Barna in his book ‘Turning Vision into Action’ comments that ‘in the Bible God never gave vision to a committee’. The vision of our church is the vision of its leadership. We see the implications of this vision in all that we do from the way that we organise the church to the way that we conduct our services. We want to talk up Jesus wherever we go and draw people to him.
